Biking and Walking

Between Campus Scenic Route

Description: This route is slightly under two miles and goes back and forth between the Coliseum and Campus Drive near the Life Sciences building. The main portion is a walk on the Caperton Rail Trail along the Mon River and through the WVU Core Arboretum, a 91-acre land tract boasting over 80 species of native WV trees, including some over 200 years old.

Approximate Time: 40-50 minutes

Craziest Hill: The Service Road in the Arboretum, which has some steep sections but is a wide path that gets you between the river and the Coliseum by way of an urban forest.

Between Campus Fast Route

Description: This more urban route takes you up University Avenue and then past President Gee’s house, ending close to the Agricultural Sciences building. The highlight is the view of downtown at the end of Riverview Drive.

Approximate Time: 30-35 minutes

Craziest Hill: Walking from Sunnyside to the Law School entrance will make you work if you’re heading North to Evansdale, but the reward is some flat and some slight downhill the rest of the way.
