Stormwater Management
As an operator of a municipal separate stormwater system (MS4), WVU administers a stormwater management program that employs best practices put forth by the federal Environmental Protection Agency to reduce stormwater runoff and filter out pollutants. As part of this program, WVU has been installing various stormwater features to collect and filter stormwater during weather events. Locations include:
- Raymond J. Lane Park beside Erickson Alumni Center
- East side of Agricultural Sciences Building
- Grassy area of WVU Art Museum bordering Patteson Drive
- Perimeter of Area 81 parking lot bordering Van Voorhis Rd.
Low-flow Fixtures
Many campus building utilize faucet aerators to add air to water exiting a faucet. Low-flow showerheads are also used in residence halls. Many of these fixtures can reduce water consumption by 50% when compared to traditional flow fixtures.
